Meet the Team: Logix Talent of the Month – Hermie Michael De Lima – The Passionate, Artistic, and Hard-working Family Man
This is the second piece in our series of interviews with selected members of our amazing Logix BPO team. These articles will help show everyone why Logix is a company that stands out from the rest and why the people who are part of it love being in the Logix BPO family.
When it comes to diversity, Logix BPO is one of those companies that employ people of every age (working age, that is) and from different parts of the country. Included in the roster of outsourced employees at Logix BPO are those who come from different educational backgrounds and possess diverse skill sets. Hermie is one of those people.
Aside from being a relatively young and artistic individual, Hermie is a dad, and one that’s uber proud of such a designation. In this interview, we will find out more about this artistic, passionate, and super-skilful individual who loves what he does and gives new meaning to the terms “work ethic” and “passion.”
Q: Hi Hermie, let’s begin shall we? Can you please introduce yourself and provide a brief overview of your educational and professional background?
Hermie: Hi! My name is Hermie Michael De Lima, I’m 27 years old and from Tanza, Cavite. I took up BS in Civil Engineering at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Manila.
In 2018, a remarkable opportunity came my way that kick-started my career in engineering and design. I was offered a significant role in business development for new housing technology. It was an exciting venture that allowed me to delve into the world of innovative design and construction.
From then on, I gained valuable experience as a Business Development Sub-Leader for five years. It was at that time that I specialized in designing modular cabinets using Microvellum Software. It also gave me the opportunity to work on developing designs for new housing technologies, specifically prefabricated houses and container houses.
Q: So, if you designed modular cabinets and prefab housing, that means you’re artistic and skilful when it comes to drawing? Does this mean you’re artistic?
Hermie: My skill set includes creating detailed shop drawings, fabrication drawings, 3D designs, and 3D walkthrough animations using various design software such as AutoCAD, Microvellum, SketchUp, Vray, Twinmotion, Unreal Engine, Enscape, and Lumion. I also have experience designing brochures and other graphic materials for sales and marketing purposes, utilizing Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.
If knowing how to use these technologies and knowing how to design means I’m artistic, then I probably am.
Q: Wow, that’s an impressive lineup of skills and know-how! What drives you to succeed in such a position and what motivated you to carve your space in such a niche?
Hermie: From the very beginning, I felt a profound passion for my work. The freedom to create my own designs and contribute my ideas to the projects I worked on was exhilarating. I embraced the opportunity to think outside the box and to push the boundaries of what was considered conventional in the field.
Apart from that, I have a loving and supportive partner, and together we have a wonderful 6-year-old son. Family is at the heart of everything I do, serving as a constant source of motivation and strength in both my personal and professional life. Their support and belief in me is what drives me to strive for excellence in my work. They are the ones who inspire me to do my best, reminding me of the importance of dedication, perseverance, and making a positive impact.
Q: That is truly commendable and heartwarming. So, what do you currently do at Logix BPO? Can you give me an idea as to what your role is and why you enjoy doing what you do?
Hermie: Currently, I am working as a Microvellum Drafter in Logix BPO, where I continue to utilize my expertise in designing and drafting using Microvellum software. As part of my role, I actively participate in client meetings, where I present project proposals using 3D walkthrough animations, flythrough animations, and VR 360 presentations.
Since I started working alongside a dedicated team of outsourced employees, I found that I experience immense joy in our collaborative efforts. We share a common drive to deliver the best outcomes, even if it meant working late into the night or sacrificing sleep to meet deadlines. The energy and commitment displayed by the team fuel my own enthusiasm and deepens my love for what I do.
The sense of fulfilment I experienced in my previous work, and right now here at Logix BPO, as I witness our designs come to life, was and still is immeasurable. Having seen the impact of our work on the lives of people is truly rewarding. It affirms my belief in the power of engineering and design to shape the world around us, making a positive difference in people’s lives.
Q: How did you start your journey in this line of work? Was there a specific event or experience that sparked your interest?
Hermie: Since that significant opportunity in 2018, my passion for engineering and design has continued to grow. I am driven to explore new avenues, seek out innovative solutions, and embrace the challenges that come with each project. The joy and fulfilment I find in this field fuel my dedication to honing my skills, expanding my knowledge, and staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
Q: Apart from your family, what else pushes you to succeed and what do you do to keep yourself in front of the pack in your industry, so to speak?
Hermie: My professional journey has been shaped by a remarkable combination of strengths and skills that have propelled me to excel in my work. With a strong sense of design, dedication, commitment, and goal orientation, I approach every task with resolute determination, striving to achieve exceptional results.
Punctuality and a willingness to go all-out in my work further enhance my effectiveness. Being results-oriented, constantly improving my interpersonal skills, and actively listening to others helps. Fostering effective verbal and written communication also allows me to convey ideas with clarity and precision, which helps in building strong connections and effective collaboration.
Consistently meeting deadlines and putting forth maximum effort, responsibility, organization, time management, and attention to detail are all important to me. All of these are qualities that permeate my work, ensuring that tasks are executed meticulously and to the highest standards.
Q: That is a tough act to follow! You’re essentially every company’s dream employee! Where do you see yourself a few years down the line?
Hermie: Apart from excelling in my current role, I have a strong desire to enhance my managerial skills. I believe in effective leadership and the ability to inspire and guide a team towards success. Because of this, I am committed to developing my managerial capabilities further.
I also see myself constantly upskilling so that I can become the best version of myself. In line with that, I also see myself becoming a great provider for my family. I recognize the importance of financial stability, and I am determined to create a secure future for myself and my loved ones.
Q: You were given the Employee of the Month award by the company so that clearly shows you love what you do and you love working for Logix BPO. Why did you join Logix and what do you see as your contribution to the company?
Hermie: Choosing the right company to work for is a decision that goes beyond mere professional considerations. From the moment I applied, I sensed that Logix BPO not only values the talent and skills of its employees but also compensates them accordingly. This distinct approach sets Logix BPO apart from other companies in terms of both the working environment and the treatment of their employees. That’s why it stood out to me as the perfect fit.
The core values and tenets of the company align impeccably with my personal goals and values. Recognizing and rewarding the contributions of its talented workforce resonates deeply with me. It’s a sign that a company genuinely understands the importance of fostering a mutually beneficial relationship – showing employees that they’re valued is seen as integral to its success.
