Comms Group Limited, a cloud communications provider, has received a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) reseller license from the Philippines National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Comms Group Philippines Inc.
New opportunities for VoIP services in the Philippines
This license allows the firm to procure and sell wholesale and business VoIP services in the country using Comms Group’s global network and local partners.
Comms Group’s services include session initiation protocol (SIP) trunking, unified communications (Microsoft Teams Calling, Cloud/Hosted PBX), call termination services (CTS), and the resale of geographic telephone numbers (DIDs).
“We are delighted to have been issued with a telecommunications licence from the Philippines NTC,” said Peter McGrath, Comms Group’s CEO and managing director.
McGrath added that with the acquisition of the license, they aim to provide the Philippines with the latest generation unified communications and VoIP services for Philippine enterprises and to assist the country’s business process outsourcing (BPO) market to remain globally competitive.
“We are particularly thankful to the Philippines Government and the various regulatory and administrative organisations including the NTC who have worked with Comms Group in awarding this licence,” McGrath added.
Leveraging global network and local partnerships
Going forward, the Philippines subsidiary will utilize Comms Group’s extensive global network and capabilities, collaborating with local partners to offer VoIP services. These services can be provided directly by Comms Group or resold globally by wholesale customers under their own brands.
Australian ambassador to the Philippines HK Yu PSM expressed appreciation for Comms Group’s license acquisition in the country. “I’m very pleased to see Australian firms actively pursuing the huge opportunities in the Philippines’ digital economy.”
“This investment of Comms Group aligns with the Philippines-Australia Strategic Partnership and Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to promote more robust two-way trade and investment between our countries,” he further stated. Praising NTC for working with Comms Group on this process, Yu added that this move sends the “right signal to investors.”
Comms Group cited the Philippines as a “key market” in its efforts to expand its network of licenses across the Asia-Pacific region.
Comms Group is also licensed to provide local VoIP services in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia, with Taiwan a work in progress.
