MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES – Thrive, a global technology outsourcing firm, has acquired Safety Net, an IT services provider based in Michigan, per their press release. The deal, whose terms were undisclosed, marks Thrive’s latest expansion move, extending its presence into the Midwest region.
With this acquisition, Safety Net customers in Michigan will gain access to Thrive’s advanced Security Operations Center (SOC) and Hybrid Cloud solutions, offering 24/7/365 cybersecurity support and cloud resources.
Thrive, known for its managed cybersecurity and cloud services, aims to uphold Safety Net’s commitment to client-first service while introducing new security and tech capabilities.
Expanding regional footprint and capabilities
Thrive has aggressively expanded its client base over the past two years, completing twelve acquisitions, with Safety Net being the latest addition to its portfolio. CEO Rob Stephenson expressed enthusiasm about the deal, highlighting the cultural alignment between the two companies and Safety Net’s skilled engineering team as critical to Thrive’s growth in Michigan and beyond.
“Safety Net’s similar business philosophies and company culture are a perfect fit as our Midwest regional platform,” said Stephenson. “Their product and service sophistication, client first mentality, and dedicated team of talented engineers will allow Thrive to grow in Michigan, as well as expand deeper into other Midwest markets with their strong leadership team.”
Building on previous acquisitions
Safety Net’s CEO, Tim Cerny, also sees strong alignment with Thrive’s mission, expressing eagerness to leverage Thrive’s resources to address increasing IT complexity faced by their clients. “Our mission seamlessly aligns with Thrive’s commitment to deliver the best technology outcomes for customers,” said Cerny.
The acquisition follows Thrive’s recent purchase of The Longleaf Network, a North Carolina-based managed services provider (MSP), which expanded its reach on the East Coast. Both Thrive and Safety Net are recognized in Channel Futures’ MSP 501 rankings, with Thrive holding the no. 21 spot in 2023 and Safety Net ranking at no. 383 in 2024.
With Safety Net onboard, Thrive is well-positioned to strengthen its managed services and security offerings, catering to an expanding client base in the Midwest.
