HYDERABAD, INDIA – Global IT services and consulting giant Cognizant has announced a significant expansion in Hyderabad, with plans to establish a new facility in the city.
This new center will span over one million square feet and is set to create 15,000 new jobs, with the capacity to accommodate up to 20,000 employees.
The Hyderabad facility will focus on cutting-edge technologies, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital engineering, and cloud solutions. This move reinforces Hyderabad’s growing status as a key hub for technology and innovation.
Strong support from state leaders
The expansion was announced following a meeting between Cognizant’s CEO, S. Revi Kumar, and Telangana’s Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, along with IT Minister D. Sridhar Babu.
“We are excited to expand our presence in Hyderabad, a city that continues to demonstrate its strengths as a technology and innovation hub,” said Kumar.
Chief Minister Reddy praised Cognizant’s decision, stating, “The expansion of Cognizant’s operations in Hyderabad is a testament to the confidence in the city’s growing reputation as a global destination for technology companies.”
He assured the company of the state’s support and highlighted the positive economic impact this expansion will bring.
Babu also emphasized the importance of this development, noting, “Hyderabad’s vibrant tech ecosystem continues to attract leading global companies. Cognizant’s decision to establish a new center here strengthens our position as a leading IT hub.”Cognizant, a global professional services company with over 340,000 employees and $19.4 billion in revenue, acquired Belcan this year, an engineering research and development (ER&D) services provider. The acquisition adds approximately 6,500 engineers and technical consultants to Cognizant’s workforce, strengthening its ER&D capabilities.
