MANILA, PHILIPPINES — Asurion, a U.S.-based technology care company, is opening a new contact center in Cebu. According to the Department of Trade and Industry, this move is expected to create at least 500 new jobs this year, adding to the country’s growing outsourcing sector.
This move aligns with the steady growth of the country’s outsourcing sector, which is projected to grow by 5%–7% in 2025, reaching at least $39.3B in revenue.
Cebu to Support the U.S. Market
Grant Mullins, Asurion’s senior assistant general counsel, stated that the company aims to grow its Philippine operations in response to the rising demand from its U.S. customers. With the addition of the new Cebu site, Asurion will be able to serve over 100 million of these customers, providing software development, technical support, and device repair services.
The Philippines remains Asurion’s only international site for mobile phone restoration, with 1,400 technicians already engaged in iPhone repair services alone, says DTI Philippine Trade and Investment Center Commercial Counselor Kenneth Yap.
Mullins also highlighted the country’s welcoming business environment, saying, “There is a welcoming environment for investors, especially with the support of the Marcos administration.” Asurion’s successful expansion in the Clark Freeport Zone last year served as a model for this next step in Cebu.
The company, which already has offices in Manila, Clark, Laguna, and Iloilo, expects to grow its total workforce to about 8,000 by the time the new site opens.
