ALGIERS, ALGERIA – Algeria officially launched a shared call center for the operators in Ouargla on November 23. The Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerrouki, himself led the inauguration, stating that this move will help the country’s telecom market grow to $1.2 billion by 2029.
Further, it comes at a time when Africa’s BPO market is experiencing rapid growth, allowing Algeria to not only ride on its waves but also make it possible for its capital, Algiers, to achieve its goal of a $30 billion GDP contribution by 2029.
Supporting Algeria’s Digital Transformation
The call center hub supports the government’s Digital Algeria 2030 strategy, where they “aim to make digital technology a major engine of economic diversification, job creation, and stronger regional and international positioning.”
Its creation will potentially result in:
- 10,000 job opportunities by 2027
- Digitized and structured handling of citizens’ requests
- Systematic information on the Post and Telecommunications’ services
Such a future will effectively “position Algeria on the call center market map,” regionally and internationally.
And this is just the start. Minister Zerrouki said that they’ll “gradually expand to include other companies from the economic sector.”
