MUMBAI, INDIA – The demand for artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML) engineers has skyrocketed since 2022, according to a report from Indeed.
The report highlights a 433% surge in job postings for AI/ML engineers and a 314% increase for business process outsourcing (BPO) executives.
Key growth areas in the job market
The sharp rise in demand for AI/ML engineers reflects the growing reliance on these technologies across various sectors.
Companies are increasingly using AI and ML to boost efficiency, foster innovation, and remain competitive.
BPO executives are also in high demand, driven by the expansion of outsourcing and customer service industries.
This growth illustrates the need for both highly specialized technical skills and more generalized, customer-focused roles.
The report, based on data from January 2022 to June 2024, also notes significant job posting increases for receptionists (310%), travel consultants (285%), and electricians (258%).
These trends are influenced by a rise in leisure and business travel, infrastructure projects, and real estate development.
Sector-specific job trends
The report also highlights significant growth in the sanitation and construction industries, with job postings increasing by 160% and 121% respectively. Education and medical research are also experiencing notable job growth.
Sashi Kumar, head of Sales at Indeed India, commented that these trends offer valuable insights for both job seekers and employers. He emphasized the importance of high-tech and service-oriented roles in the evolving job landscape.
