CALGARY, CANADA – Accenture, a global outsourcing leader, has acquired True North Solutions, a Calgary-based industrial engineering solutions provider.
This acquisition aims to bolster Accenture’s expertise in aiding clients within the oil, gas, and mining industries, enhancing their ability to produce and transport energy safely and efficiently.
True North Solutions is renowned for its specialization in operational technology (OT), which includes the hardware and software systems used to control physical equipment and facilities like pipelines, refineries, plants, and mines.
Their services span engineering and commissioning, industrial automation solutions, enterprise asset management, OT cybersecurity, and digital infrastructure for industrial telecommunications.
By merging True North’s expertise with Accenture’s advanced digital capabilities, the combined entity will better assist clients in connecting their OT to enterprise IT systems, optimizing the output and safety of equipment and facilities through real-time data analytics.
Integration and future plans
The acquisition adds 95 experts in automation, instrumentation, and electrical engineering to Accenture’s Industry X digital engineering and manufacturing service.
“True North Solutions brings boots-on-the-ground understanding of how to design, build and commission our clients’ critical assets and infrastructure,” said Adam Foster, Accenture Canada’s Energy Portfolio leader.
Foster added that by merging True North Solutions’ know-how with Accenture’s advanced digital tools, the company aims to improve the performance and safety of their clients’ field operations.
David Morgenstern, president of Accenture in Canada, stated that incorporating True North Solutions into their Industry X and Resources team will allow clients to benefit from advanced technologies like generative and predictive AI, leading to smarter operations with greater productivity, predictability, efficiency, and safety, thereby advancing these capabilities in the industry and in Canada.
