CEBU, PHILIPPINES – EY Global Development Services (EY GDS), a knowledge process outsourcing firm, has recently signed an agreement with the University of San Carlos to incorporate a ServiceNow elective into its curriculum, providing students with practical skills in new digital technologies. The company did the same with Cebu Institute of Technology-University earlier this year.
EY GDS is doing this to bring out the untapped potential of young Cebuanos, ensuring that these college graduates have the skill set they need as future professionals. Dench Decino, the company’s Philippines location leader, also added that “[they] see incredible promise in what this community can achieve on the global stage.”
What This Means for the Future
EY GDS’s initiatives support the goal of the IT-BPM industry to train more people in fields such as AI, data science, and cloud technologies, while helping Cebu become a strong hub for digital services in the global market. +
Through upskilling, the company is able to help Cebuano students future-proof their careers, where they’re able to work with AI and other advanced tech instead of having their jobs cut off because of them.
Through career awareness programs, students are able to gain insights into what the current global operations look like and the career paths they can take locally and globally.
