TOKYO, JAPAN — Japan’s leading distributor and solutions provider for the IT ecosystem, TD SYNNEX, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Gateway Computer Corporation from Mitani Sekisan Co., Ltd.
Gateway Computer has established a strong track record of serving its customers, offering value-added services from its domestic and international manufacturers. By acquiring 96.3% of its stake, TD SYNNEX expands its solutions and services in Japan, strengthening its ability to deliver end-to-end value offerings to its customers across the region.
Under the terms of the partnership, Gateway Computer will continue to operate as a separate entity within TD SYNNEX and maintain its leadership with Hidekazu Hayashi as President, who will now report to Shigetaka Kunimochi, TD SYNNEX Japan’s President.
The Partnership’s Strategic Rationale
This acquisition supports TD SYNNEX’s objective of evolving from a traditional hardware provider to a solution-oriented model.
It will help the company:
- Offer comprehensive IT solutions, services, and lifecycle support across Asia-Pacific.
- Strengthen its vendor relationships to enable better access and localized delivery.
- Increase its competitive advantage against global competitors with specialized services and scale.
We are excited to welcome Gateway Computer and its highly skilled team into the TD SYNNEX family and for the new opportunities in our shared journey ahead. This share acquisition enabled both companies to leverage our collective strengths to deliver higher value for our domestic and international vendors, partners, and customers in Japan.
— Shigetaka Kunimochi, TD SYNNEX Japan President
