CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES – SoundHound AI, a global leader in voice and conversational AI, has agreed to acquire LivePerson, a pioneer in predictable conversational AI, for US$43 million.
This deal, which is expected to close in the second half of 2026, will enable the combined company to work with customers across over 30 countries, including:
- 12 of the 15 global banks
- 4 of the top 5 global airlines
- 4 of the top 5 global automakers
- 10+ of the leading global telecommunications providers
On top of that, here are some of the expectations that will come out of this acquisition:
- Combine the strengths of SoundHound AI’s agentic voice AI and LivePerson’s Conversational Cloud to create a leading end-to-end omnichannel conversational AI platform
- Enhance the performance, user experience, containment, and overall customer health for LivePerson’s customers through SoundHound AI’s agentic platform and AI models
- Expand SoundHound AI’s customer base and diversify its verticals
- Reinforce the long-term financial stability that customers require from mission-critical technology partners
Keyvan Mohajer, SoundHound AI’s CEO and co-founder, says both companies “will define the future of agentic customer service, helping businesses replace fragmented legacy technologies with best-in-class multimodal experiences for the AI-driven era ahead of us.”
John Sabino, CEO of LivePerson, supports this, noting that the acquisition will change the dynamic given shifting customer expectations. “Historically, orchestrating a strategy across both voice and digital channels meant juggling multiple specialized vendors.” He adds that “bringing SoundHound’s cutting-edge, proprietary voice AI and LivePerson’s premier digital messaging together under one roof, we will offer the industry’s most complete portfolio of customer engagement solutions.”
